Dear guests,
As most of you know, Michigan's Roller Coast and Cedar Fair Village were taken offline in early March due to reasons beyond our control. I honestly planned on re-opening them on September 15, 2008, but at this time, I see no reason to do so.
While the sites were a great source of information, photos, community, and free advertising for the parks, at this time we must unfortunately discontinue both of our sites as well as the Cedar Fair Village Network indefinitely.
While I don't want to make this sound like an Academy Awards acceptance speach, there are a lot of people I'd like to thank. First off, I'd like to thank Kirk Anderson, my partner in crime. Honestly if it wasn't for him, Cedar Fair Village wouldn't be as large as it is today, not to mention we wouldn't have had FairCast. Next I'd like to thank Mike Hunter and Derek DiSabato, two awesome coaster enthusiasts and photographers. Seriously guys, you kept me sane (or maybe even insane, I don't know). Finally, I'd like to thank all the visitors, CFV Network site staff, and all the other people that helped make this possible. Without you, we wouldn't have had Cedar Fair Village.
On the Michigan's Roller Coast side, it's been a long trip of ups and downs. After six years of operation, I hate to see it come to an end, but I don't see any reason to continue the site. I feel like the ratio of people who actually appreciate it to those that would rather it not be around is pushing me to just get rid of it, so even despite how much work I've put into it and dedication I have to it, it's time for it to come to an end. Six years of service to the smallest park in the Cedar Fair chain, all of it comes down to this letter.
Where do I go from here? I plan on continuing my personal website, Cheezonastick.net, for the time being. I don't quite know what I want to post on there or what it will actually be, but I can promise you that for no reason will it be closing. It will remain around as long as I have an interest in webdesign.
So again, thank you to those of you who actually cared, who actually believed in the sites. You were one in few, really. I really wish I could keep them open for you guys, but, like the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end."
Until next time, I'm Jon, and this has been the last edition of FairCast.
-Jon Roost
